A break for the holidays

Christmas break will be from Dec 22-Jan 1.  No classes during this time.  I will be available for personal training and small groups on Monday, Dec 31 from 6am-5:30pm.  Contact me to schedule when/where.

Food Drive!

Last week to bring food donations!  In this time of endless consumption of gifts as well as excessive food/drink, let’s remember those less fortunate than us.  Bring a donation with you to bootcamp or to your training session and I’ll get it to a place that helps those in need.

Feel free to clean out your pantry (don’t bring expired things though).  Things they need most include flour, oatmeal, canned chicken/tuna, peanut butter, canned veggies, mustard, salsa, toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, dish soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and shampoo.  The deadline for this is next Monday, December 17.  Financial gifts are fine too.  Proceeds to go the Eagan Resource Center.

Childcare now available at Bootcamp

Need something to do with your kids while you sweat it out at my Mpls bootcamp? Now I’m offering childcare. There are already kids rooms at the church, and I have enlisted an experienced childcare worker to watch your lil ones. It’s $5 for the one child, $8 for 2, or $12 for 3. If you have more than 3 just keep adding on $4 per child. You must contact me in advance to reserve your spot – and it’s first come first serve, so the farther in advance you contact me, the better. There is always a chance that the childcare worker won’t be available and if there’s a lot of requests I’ll need to make sure I have enough kid-watchers to keep them safe!

Boot Camp Halloween Bash

I’m throwing a Halloween Boot Camp Bash!  This will be a No Candy party with healthy treats instead.  Wear a costume to 6pm or 7pm Boot Camps for an *even more fun than usual* workout.  Halloween party music is prepped and ready!  If you haven’t been to Boot Camp in 6 months or more, come for free.  Otherwise, it’s $12 to drop in, or a good time to start a month ($75 cash/check) or 3 month ($215) commitment to your fitness and health!  While I’m throwing prices around, an even better deal is the ongoing EFT (electronic funds transfer) at only $60/month.  More info on Boot Camp can be found here.  Oh yeah, and it is at 100 W. 46th Street in the basement of Solomon’s Porch church.  Looking forward to seeing all your creative costumes!  I wanna see a Jane Fonda costume! 😉

BCOR

I began a partnership with BCOR (Bootcamp of the Rockies) in October 2011 and for months was satisfied with the new people I was meeting in bootcamp and the compensation and service I received from BCOR.  Basically, BCOR had the ability to market to a very large audience through Groupon, Living Social, and other means not available to a very small business (sole proprietor) like myself.  They also managed registering and selling to my many new boot campers.  Sometimes location, directions, or other important information would not get to these new clients, but I brushed it off as minor.  Over two months ago I received my last payment from BCOR, while they continued to register and send new members to my boot camp.  Since then, I sent at least a hundred emails, facebook messages, online support requests, tweets, facebook comments, and even a Better Business Bureau complaint.  The tone of the messages got angrier and more frustrated as time went on, as you could guess.  In mid-September I officially ended the partnership and shared the situation with my bootcamp members.  Seven members had signed up through BCOR and had been paying them monthly; they also were frustrated and disappointed to hear that I wasn’t getting my cut of their payments.  I calculated that BCOR owes me $800, and had actually been shorting me since February 2012. Finally on October 1 I got an email from the CEO of BCOR that BCOR is bankrupt.  I’m not sure if this singular email is enough proof that they are bankrupt, what if they just made it up to get me to stop badmouthing them all over the internet?  I also don’t know if it is worth it at this point to pursue any legal action…

Anyway, the point of all this is to explain to anyone holding a Living Social or Groupon voucher for BCOR, that I will honor the deal that you bought.  Living Social and Groupon should refund your money if you request, and I will charge you whatever you paid for the deal (either $20 for 1 month or $35 for 6 weeks).  This offer is not available for returning boot campers and is only available to those who bought the Living Social or Groupon deal.  I’d still love to meet you and help you get your boot camp workouts!

New Yoga Class at New Studio!

I’ve been working with some very cool friends to start a new yoga studio in South Minneapolis.  We are now open, I am teaching there, and I would love to see more faces in my class.  Yoga Sanctuary is located inside Solomon’s Porch church at 100 W. 46th Street (also where I host bootcamp in the winter).  The studio is offering traditional classes including Vinyasa and Ashtanga, as well as some new things including Kids Yoga, Teen Yoga, Hula Hoop Yoga, and Date Night Yoga.  My ongoing class is Gentle Yoga at 11am-12:15pm Fridays.  I will also be teaching 2 classes this Saturday morning at 8am and 9:30am.  I will be teaching Vinyasa for both classes (rather than Power Yoga which is on the schedule, since I’ve never taught Power Yoga before!).  I will also be occasionally teaching on Sunday mornings, and the next time I’m schedule to do that is September 2.  All the instructors are fantastic and I recommend checking out any class. Hope to see you there soon!

Now training in Uptown!

Summer BOOTCAMP in the Park!

What is BOOT CAMP? A fun, interactive, and challenging workout, inspired by sports and army training; and including a dynamic warm-up, partner and group activities, functional strength, plyometric exercises, core and balance work, and integrated flexibility. We’ll be outdoors at the park for the summer, so you can enjoy the fresh air while you do your burpees and jumping jacks! This workout is serious fun and gives serious results. One hour sessions start at both 6pm and 7pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

If you’re not sure you want to commit, just think about whether you’ve ever wanted any of the following:
-lose weight & body fat
-increase energy
-improve your strength, endurance, and flexibility
-become a faster runner/cyclist/athlete
-make new friends
-play tag, skip around a park, do somersaults, jump rope….
-look GREAT in a bikini/shorts/tank top/whatever
-see how many burpees you can do in a row!!!!

You can achieve all these goals and more through boot camp. For real!

I just started EFT (electronic funds transfer) which is an automatic monthly withdrawal from your checking account. To promote usage of EFT, it will always be a discounted rate from the regular price. And to start that out, I’m offering $45/month for the first 8 people to sign up for using it. There is a minimum 6 month commitment for using EFT. That rate is around $5/class WHICH IS A MAJOR BARGAIN!!!

I’m looking forward to helping you get a great workout!  For more info and to sign up, check out the boot camp tab above.
