Boot Camp updates

A few logistical changes with Boot Camp:

When?  New time:  6:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays

Where?  Lake Harriet (for the month of August)!  Meet in the grassy area at the back of the benches at the bandshell.

Who?  Steve is still leading on Monday nights, Amanda is back for Wednesday nights.

What else? Always an option to swim at the beach after the workout, or get a snack/drink at the cafe there.

Baby is here!

Here’s a very late announcement that the baby arrived!

Baby is very healthy, and mom (Amanda) is feeling recovered.  Our family is adapting to the new rhythm of life.  Now, I get to work on returning to my pre-pregnancy fitness levels – slowly but surely I will get there!12 Days Old

Maternity leave details

My maternity leave is coming up soon – June 1-Aug 31.  Here’s some details around it for those affected.

Minneapolis Bootcamp: Classes will continue as normal, with new teachers Steve and Haley!

Everybody else (St. Paul Bootcamp, all personal trainees, and small group training):  Off for the summer (June 1-Aug 31).  There may be schedule changes this fall, but I plan to return to work after Labor Day.  Keep in touch, and in August I’ll let you know my specific plans/schedule for the fall.  Your options for the months off:  1) You can join the Minneapolis bootcamp, or 2) I can create a specific workout plan for you, with changing workouts, to cover the 3 months.  $100 for the specific 3-month plan.  I will meet with you to go over the plan, and check in with you one or two times throughout the summer, probably via email.  3) I can also suggest some other classes/trainers/etc. that I think would be helpful to you.  Talk to me for some recommendations!

As far as payments go:  You can continue to buy packages/sessions up until May 24.  It is possible, but unlikely, that the baby will come before then.  I will work the last week of May (after Memorial Day) if possible, and any sessions can be paid for individually at the time of the session.

For those on auto-debit:  Basically you are paying for 8 sessions per month.  If you don’t get those 8 sessions in in May due to Baby Cole coming early, then later in June I’ll refund whatever you miss.  Or, you can add in extra workout time with me earlier in the month.  If you manage to squeeze in 9 or 10 sessions in the month – then you just got lucky.  🙂  I will make sure your auto-debit is on hold so you won’t be charged for June, July, or August.

Please feel free to ask me any questions!  I know you will do GREAT this summer – and for some of you, the change-up in routine will be just what you need to push your fitness to the next level.  🙂

 

Lose Your Love Handles RESULTS

Total Balance Fitness’ first contest (click here for more info on rules/details) was a huge success!  Lose Your Love Handles went from Feb 1-28 and 25 people signed up to participate.  14 of those contestants finished up with GREAT results – losing significant amounts of body fat, pounds, and inches.  Everyone who participated made some healthy lifestyle changes including daily exercise, drinking adequate water, eating more veggies, consuming adequate protein, lowering intake of sugar/alcohol, stress relief activities, and getting more sleep.  Many participated in additional bonus challenges including walking/running 15 miles in a week, doing 50 burpees every day, and completing 1000 squats and 500 pushups in one week!

2 participants each (Lauren Wanna and Margaret Hilger) reduced their body composition by 2.5%, each lost around 10 lbs, and each lost 3 inches around waist, hips, and chest. Overall, the group lost 68 pounds in a month!!

Our big winner who also lost lots of body fat, inches, and pounds, was Frances Anderson*.  She really put her mind to this and made many lifestyle changes that have seriously been paying off!  Here’s some of her comments regarding some of the dietary adjustments: “It was not as hard as I thought to go a month without sugar, chocolate, and alcohol.  When I made the decision at the start of the month to do this, it was not so hard, because I had already decided. I did not mindlessly eat chips or other junk. I had already decided not to eat it.”  Fran is using her prize money to buy new clothes, since her old clothes are too big and falling off of her!  “When I went shopping for new workout pants and jeans, I was amazed to find the sizes I was trying on.” See what you can accomplish when you put your mind to it?

Way to go to all Lose Your Love Handles participants!  Your determination and success is inspiring!! If you missed the chance to participate in this one, we’ll have another opportunity in October 2013.

Upcoming maternity leave

In case you haven’t heard, I’m having a baby soon!  My upcoming maternity leave is scheduled for June 1-September 2. Minneapolis Bootcamp will still be running the whole summer with a substitute teacher. Also in May I will be offering to sell 3 month fitness plans to get you through the summer. There will probably be some schedule changes this fall.  More details will be announced as they become available.  Thanks for understanding, and keep working hard without me this summer!!
